John Joseph Hall was born in Minneapolis, MN on April 28th, 1930. After choosing to pursue a career in medicine, he graduated from St. Thomas College and the University of Minnesota Medical School. Shortly after finishing his studies, he joined the Air Force as a flight surgeon. He married his wife Yolanda in 1958 and moved to Onamia, MN where he started his medical practice. Two years later, he moved to Bryan College Station where he practiced medicine for more than 50 years. His favorite part of medicine was obstetrics and he loved taking care of families.
John performed physicals for the Fighting Texas Aggie Football team and taught family practice medicine to medical students from Texas A&M. He was a Chairman of the Board at St Joseph Hospital and went on several medical missions to help those in need in Mexico and Guatemala. He was also a physician for Health For All Clinics.
Dr. Hall was a wonderful son, brother, father, grandfather, and great grandfather affectionately known as “Dapo,” or “Uncle Jack.” He was a man of very strong faith and an excellent dancer who never missed the opportunity to dance with the love of his life, Yolanda.
He had a special knack for recalling and reciting commercial jingles dating back to the 1940’s, as well as possessing an impressive photographic memory. “Uncle Jack” was a true handyman, an avid reader, and the loving caretaker of the family animals over the years.
John will be greatly missed but will forever be in our hearts.
John is survived by his wife Yolanda, his children: Christopher (Gidget) Hall, Maida (Tom) Hortenstine, Randi Hall, Allan Hall (deceased), his grandchildren: Kayla (Kevin) Shannon, Sarah Hall, Kristin (Mike) Silliman, Cody (Kathrin) Hall, Brandon (Chloe) Hoffman, Zach Hall and great grandchildren: Wesley Silliman, Ty Hall, Ellie Silliman, Maeve Hoffman, and Collin Silliman.
