Glenda Sue Metzer, age 79, of Bryan, Texas passed away on Thursday August 8, 2019. The family will receive friends starting at 9:00 AM, Tuesday, August 13th at Zion Church of Kurten, with the funeral service to begin at 10:00 AM, Pastor Aubrey Rodgers officiating. Interment will follow at the Kurten Cemetery.
Glenda was born December 17, 1939 in Carrizozo, New Mexico, the daughter of Glenn E. and Alice (Degner) King. She graduated with a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Denver and was Homecoming Queen in 1960. Glenda was an elementary school teacher at Bryan ISD for over 30 years and was the Bryan ISD Elementary Teacher of the Year 1993-1994.
She was preceded in death by a son, Kirk Alan Metzer. Survivors include her husband, Frank Metzer; two daughters, Kerry Laymon & husband John, Renee Roberts & husband John; two grandsons, Jacob and Zachary Roberts; two sisters, Sandy Scaccia & husband Mike, Mary Alice Elam & husband Jim; a brother, Glenn King, Jr. & wife Stella.
