Wayne, as he was known by most, was born on December 12, 1956 in Bryan, TX where he lived his entire life. He graduated from Bryan High School in 1975. That fall, after throwing pieces of ice at her across the Sons of Hermann hall, he finally worked up the courage to talk to what would become the love of his life, Judy Skrabanek at the Wienerschnitzel in Bryan. They married July 16, 1977 in a ceremony in Bryan, TX where they settled down. After losing their son at birth, Wayne and Judy welcomed two daughters into their family. This began the demise of the “tough and gruff Wayne” into the loving and protective “Daddy” that would do absolutely anything in the world for his girls. He devoted himself to raising loving daughters that would always be able to stand on their own while making sure that they knew that “life is about priorities!”
Over the years, Wayne enjoyed many different activities including hunting, fishing, working on cars, attending Aggie baseball games, and taking road trips. He didn’t care where he was going, as long as he was spending time with family and friends.
Wayne leaves a great legacy and was loved by so many because he was never afraid to tell it to you straight, and no matter what, could always find a way to lighten the mood.
Wayne is preceded in death by his son, David Wayne Hodges Jr.; father, Fred A. Hodges; and grandmother, Della Graham. He is survived by his wife Judy Skrabanek Hodges; daughters, Kimberly Greer and husband Scott of College Station, and Amanda Stanley and husband John of Bryan; grandchildren, Parker Wayne Greer (3yrs) and Leila Grace Stanley (7wks); mother, Leila Jeanette Hodges of Bryan; siblings, Randy Hodges and wife Mary of Bryan, and Sharon Newland and husband Waine of Bryan; brother-in-law Billy Joe Skrabanek; 5 dogs, including his beloved dachshund Buster, and numerous other relatives and loved ones.
