Cherry Ann Whitten

From an early age, Cherry was passionate about the arts. She was a talented musician, entertainer, and artist. She performed in dozens of musicals at the local community theater, where her love of singing, dancing, acting, and song writing took off. In her teens, she was hired by Astroworld to be one of their performers, where she sang and danced. During her time in Houston she was also hired by the Houston Texans to be their lead vocalist for the pre-game Star-Spangled Banner. She then took her passions to Los Angeles, where she was cast in many tv shows, movies, commercials, modeling deals, and music videos.

After making her way back to Texas, she sang with several bands and joined The Rocket Brothers band, who she considered her second family, performing for weddings and events all across Texas. She then pursued a career as a flight attendant for Southwest Airlines, where she entertained passengers on every flight she was on. During Covid, she started a nonprofit, “The Art Project,” where she volunteered her art in memoriam to those that passed away.

In 2020, she became a mother to her beloved Lucy, her spitting image in every way and what she considered her greatest accomplishment.

Cherry is preceded in death by her grandparents, Dr. Domingo and Cuqui Cabrera, and Jon Whitten.

She is survived by her beloved daughter, Lucy Vollert; her parents, Brett and Mary Whitten; grandmother, Carol Whitten; brother, Brett ‘Buster’ Whitten and his wife Paige; sister, Gillian Whitten; sister, Dulce Terilli and her husband John; nephews, Grayson Thomas, Tripp, and Rush Terilli. She is also survived by aunts and uncles, Beau and Jo Whitten, Cody Whitten, Carmen and Jim Sheffield, Martha Allen, and Teresa and Brad Wyatt.

Visitation will be from 5 – 7 pm Monday, July 1, 2024 at Memorial Funeral Chapel in Bryan. Funeral service will be at 11:00 Tuesday, July 2 at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church. Private family interment will be held at a later date.
