William “Butch” Vaughn Crowley, III, 71 of St. Simons Island, formerly of Atlanta, departed this life Saturday, May 21, 2016 at Hospice of The Golden Isles. Funeral services will be held at 11AM Wednesday, May 25, 2016 at Wesley United Methodist Church at Frederica with Rev. Steve Patton officiating. Interment with Military Honors will follow in Oglethorpe Memorial Gardens.
Born July 19, 1944 in Americus, Georgia to the late William V. Crowley, Jr., and Evelyn S. Crowley, he was a retired Lt. Col from the US Army. After serving his country, Mr. Crowley obtained a Business Degree from Presbyterian College and retired as a Regional Director from Fortis Benefits. A former resident of Atlanta, he had been a resident of Glynn County since 2000, and was an avid golfer, Ole Miss fan, and enjoyed fishing, following SEC sports, travel, and was an animal lover.
Survivors include his wife Sigrid Crowley of St. Simons Island, two daughters, Patty Gagliardi and husband Jim of Palm Coast, FL, Ashley Lavallee and husband Ryan of St. Simons Island, six grandchildren; Emmie, Harper, Maddie, Alyssa, Taylor and Adam, one special aunt, Martha Jean Fowle of Atlanta and a host of close cousins.
