Robert Ray Sheffield Sr.

Robert “Bob” Sheffield, Sr., 68, of Brunswick, died Tuesday, January 3, 2012 at SGHS Brunswick Campus. Funeral services will be held at 10 AM Tuesday, January 10, 2012 at Bible Baptist Church, 500 Harry Driggers Blvd, Brunswick, GA, with Rev. Mike Landrum officiating. Interment will follow at 2:30 PM in Jacksonville National Cemetery with Military Honors rendered from the United States Navy.

Born December 21, 1943 in Daytona Beach, FL, to the late Ray and Juanita S. Sheffield, he was a retired Veteran of The US Navy after 25 years of service as a Sr. Chief Machinist Mate. Mr. Sheffield had been a resident of Glynn County since 2001 and attended Bible Baptist Church. Mr. Sheffield was an avid fisherman and hunter and enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a brother, Bill Stone and a sister, June “Sissy” Oswald.

Survivors include his wife of 45 years, Cennie Sheffield of Brunswick, two sons, Scott Sheffield of Brunswick, and Robert Sheffield Jr., and wife Kristen of Sarasota, FL, three daughters, Kathy Kelly and husband James of California, Annette Cochran and husband Jim of Brunswick, and Ashley Carroll and husband Shane of Jupiter, FL, 22 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren, brothers, Roy Sheffield, Randy Sheffield, Ben Stone, Gene “Bubba” Stone, sisters, Annette Gebhart, Shirley Ranew and Esther Upthegrove.

The family will receive friends Monday evening, January 9, 2012 from 6 PM until 8 PM at Edo Miller and Sons Funeral Home, 3321 Glynn Ave., Brunswick, GA 31520. Memorials may be made to the American Lung Association.
