Born in Elmira, New York, Robert was the eldest of five children to parents Robert G. Randall, Sr., and Janet Strait Randall. In the mid 1950’s the family moved to Albany, Georgia where Robert resided and graduated second in his class at Albany High School. From there he moved to Athens where he graduated Summa Cum Laude from the University of Georgia with a degree in Social Work. He then attended Candler School of Theology at Emory University. Robert was highly intelligent speaking several languages including Hebrew and Greek. He worked at Epworth by the Sea then later served as a volunteer coordinator for the International Seafarer Center until his retirement in 2007. Robert was very effective in this position, growing his team of volunteers from 30 to 120. He was also an activist and was instrumental in leading peaceful, non-violent protests at the G8 Summit on Sea Island.
A brother, David Randall and his parents preceded him in death.
Robert is survived by his wife of 46 years, Linda Peacock Randall of Brunswick; three siblings, Laurie Randall Williams (Bubba) of Ravenel, SC, Dennis Randall (Diane) of Austell, GA and Angie Randall Vail (Charles) of Fayetteville, GA; a sister-in-law, Sharon Randall of Americus, GA; a sister-in-law Velvia Peacock Barbour (Harvey) of Ridgeway, SC; a sister-in-law Christy Peacock May (Chris) of Brunswick, GA; and a brother-in-law Brian Peacock (Paige) of Brunswick, GA along with several nieces and nephews.
Robert’s memorialization will be by cremation.
