To the proud high school basketball players lucky enough to play for Boyd, he will forever be known as “Coach.”
To everyone else who watched, competed against and battled with, Coach Boyd can undisputedly be known as a champion.
He won six GHSA state titles at four schools — a modern-era record in the state of Georgia — and finished with a career 641-210 record in his illustrious 30-year coaching career.
Coach Boyd was inducted into the GACA Hall of Fame in 2023 before a capacity crowd and dozens of former players who traveled from around the corner and from around the world as far as Australia to be part of the ceremony.
That was the forever impact Coach Boyd had.
He was intense. He was beloved. He was a leader.
He was, long before it became official, a Hall of Famer.
As a coach. As a husband. As a mentor. As a father. As a friend and as a man.
