Robert affectionately known as “Bobby” was born June 11, 1924 in Atlanta, Georgia the son of the late Jack Leonard Roebuck and the late Lucy Matthews Roebuck. He was also preceded in death by a brother, William Reobuck.
Bobby was a World War II veteran and served his country with honor in the United States Navy. He was honorably discharged as a Captain in the United States Naval Reserve. He attended Purdue University, Georgia Institute of Technology, and Austin Peay State University. Bobby was a plumber by trade and continued to operate the business his father had started, Roebuck INC. Bobby was also active in setting up and teaching in the apprentice program for the Plumbers Union 177.
Left to cherish Bobby’s memories are his daughter, Gale Roebuck Scott of Saint Simons Island, GA; one sister, Betty Lou Nunneley (Fred) of Baton Rouge, LA: and a sister-in-law, Jane Roebuck. Several nieces, nephews, and longtime companion, Jane Byrd’s family “the Scroggs” also survive.
Bobby loved to spend time with family and friends. He also enjoyed life immensely through his life of playing golf and cards at Brunswick Country Club, dining with friends, and just about anything that included a good martini. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him. His family will have everlasting memories of a life well lived.
A graveside service to honor Bobby’s life will be held at 10:00 AM Saturday, November 17, 2018 at Christ Church Cemetery on Saint Simons Island with Reverend Tony Lankford officiating.
