Robert "Bob" Klinger Hess III

He was born in Fort Monroe, Virginia on March 13, 1951. Bob earned degrees from U.G.A. with Bachelors in History and Masters in Sociology and received a PHD in Reading from University of South Carolina. He was married to Susan M. Russell on December 23rd, 1972. Bob had a career in Higher Education at Governors State University, Illinois and Arizona State University, where he was awarded the title of Professor Emeritus because of his long standing professorship, leadership, and research in education. He was a member of the United Methodist Church, Eagle Scout, and Alpha Phi Omega. He had a passion for baseball, family history, and fountain pens.

He is survived by, his wife, Susan and children Robert Hess (Kendall), Harry Hess (Christine), and Diana Tolman (Alex) and his grandchildren, Seamus, Declan, Ciaran, Alice and Luke, as well as his sister Cathy Wright (Steve) and numerous nieces and nephews. Bob was preceded in death by his younger brother Gary.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, August 27, 2016 at 2:00 P.M. at the Blythe Island United Methodist Church 6334 Blythe Island Hwy Brunswick, GA 31523.

The Family of Robert Hess ask that in lieu of flowers a donation may be made to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society.
