Everett City, GA / Brunswick- Oscar Clements Young, Jr., 88, personally met his beloved Jesus October 20, 2015 unexpectedly after passing away at the local hospital.
A lifelong resident of Glynn County, he was born in Sterling, GA July 26, 1927; raised and lived most of his life in Everett City while working as clerk telegrapher for Norfolk Southern Railroad; retiring at the Brunswick Freight Office. He was a graduate of Glynn Academy and was a veteran of the US Navy at the end of World War II.
Mr. Young loved playing his baby grand piano at home. He loved his animals and especially taking care of his goats. Mr. Young was highly regarded and loved for being a gentleman, his fond recollections, and friendly laughter.
Oscar was the son of Oscar Clements Young, Sr. and Alva Clyde Horton Young both of Glynn County, GA. and the husband of Lily Mae Harrison Young who died August 11, 2004. Surviving are a daughter Wanda Young Moore (Martin) of Brunswick and a son Gary Clyde Young (Patty) of Douglasville, GA. Grandchildren Sarah Young Griffin (Nick) of Villa Rica, GA , Mark David Young of Douglasville, GA, Aaron McDonald Moore (Ashley) of Ashburn, GA., Levi Harrison Moore (Hannah) of Brunswick, and Adam Andrew Young of Douglasville, GA. ; one Great Grandchild Brynley Griffin; one sister, Mary Young Harden of Brunswick, GA with many nieces and nephews.
Mr. Young was a member of First Presbyterian Church of Brunswick.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, October 24, 2015 in the Chapel of Edo Miller and Sons Funeral Home with Reverend Scott McVey officiating with burial to follow at Palmetto Cemetery in Brunswick. The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 8:00 PM on Friday at the funeral home on US 17 in Brunswick.
