Linda was born at home in Ava, Missouri and was one of six children born to William Malcolm Miller and Eleanor Gertrude Gillette Miller. She graduated from Lee’s Summit High School in Lee’s Summit, Missouri and from Baptist Memorial Hospital in Kansas City, Missouri, where she earned her Licensed Practical Nurse degree. Upon graduation she worked in nursing in Kansas City and Denver, Colorado prior to changing careers. While in Denver, Linda began working at Taco Bell and later took a management position at Taco Bell in Albany, Georgia. From there she moved to Jekyll Island, Georgia, and became a member of the First Baptist Church of Brunswick.
Linda worked for various employers including the Glynn County Sheriff’s Office Detention Center and the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center. She served as a short term and volunteer missionary with International Mission Board. Her mission service took her to Burkina Faso, Mali, Ghana, Senegal, Morocco, Republic of Georgia, Brazil and Colombia. Linda’s love of traveling also took her to Italy, France, England, Scotland, Ireland, Wales, Switzerland, Austria, Luxembourg, Germany, Belgium, Yugoslavia, British Virgin Islands and the Bahamas. She enjoyed reading, bird-watching, photography, tennis and golf.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Ward Miller.
Survivors include a sister, Ramona Gay Hodges (David) of Jekyll Island; three brothers, Terry Miller (Nancy Jean) of Richland, WA, Dana Miller (Susan) of Kansas City, MO and Paul Miller (Deborah) of Isle of Wight, UK; sister-in-law, Nance Jane Miller of San Antonio, TX and many nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of Life service will be held at the Brunswick First Baptist Church in Beach Hall on Thursday, August 9, 2018 at 11:00 am. Visitation will be held in the Twitty Chapel one hour prior to the service. Dr. Chris Winiford, Rev. Jim Crandall and Mr. Jim Jordan will officiate.
