Kevin was born in West Palm Beach, Florida, on February 6, 1956, to Francis Gerald McAuliffe and Adrienne Annette Cluff McAuliffe.
Kevin grew up moving to various places in the US, and Puerto Rico, as his military family was relocated whenever his father was re-stationed. He graduated from Abilene High School, Abilene, Texas, in 1974 and immediately enlisted in the US Air Force, where he served until his honorable discharge in March of 1985.
Kevin then had a long civilian career in sail-making, which began in Edgewood, Maryland, and continued in Ft. Walton Beach, Florida. In his spare time, he enjoyed various water sports, such as swimming, diving, wind surfing, paddle boarding, sailing, and even coached several sailboat operators into winning regattas.
In 2014, Kevin moved to Darien, Georgia, and married the love of his life, Diane Renee Wicks. They shared life together by traveling, completing many home improvement projects, and enjoying retirement.
Kevin was involved in the St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church, where he volunteered as an usher, a junior warden, audio-visual team leader, and director of the Christian Men’s Fellowship, organizing the planning and building of many wheelchair ramps.
He was preceded in death by his daughter, Kristen Leigh McAuliffe, and his parents.
He is survived by his wife, Diane McAuliffe, and siblings, Karen Robertson of California, and Kathleen Smith, Kelli Spencer (Louis), and Michael McAuliffe (Sherri) all of Texas, his daughter, Miranda Danielle Ross of Gulf Breeze, Florida, his son Michael Francis McAuliffe (Rebecca) of Panama City Beach, Florida. Also surviving are his grandchildren, Kennedy McAuliffe, Gavin, and Alexis Ross. Also included are his step-daughter, Jeannie Roberts of Brunswick, step-sons, Jeff Brazell (Teri) of Richmond Hill, Georgia, and Jakob Feeney of Portland Oregon. Step-granchildren include Simon Roberts, Abigail Roberts, Titus Morse, Easton Morse, Silas Brazell, and Spurgeon Brazell.
A Celebration of Life Holy Eucharist will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, October 11, 2024 at St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church in Darien, Georgia, with Fr. Mike Gumulauskas officiating. The Episcopal Church Women will provide a lunch, and then inurnment with military honors will be held at the gravesite in the St. Andrew’s Cemetery Annex.
The family asks that in lieu of flowers, donations can be made in his name to the Hospice of the Golden Isles.
