Katie Lee Taylor, 85, passed away Thursday, March 28, 2013, at Southeast Georgia Health System Brunswick Campus. A native of Pierce County, Georgia, Mrs. Taylor was born September 5, 1927 to the late Benjamin Lonnie Bargeron and the late Sarah Bell Driggers Bargeron. She had been a resident of Glynn County for the past 44 years. Mrs. Taylor was a dedicated Navy Wife, with the ability of setting up house quickly. During her husband’s Active Duty Enlistment time in the United States Navy the couple lived in a variety of places, which included San Diego, California, Fort Campbell Kentucky, Mayport, Florida and Panama in the Panama Canal Zone. Mrs. Taylor was an outstanding cook and she also had a green thumb and loved to grow plants. She always practiced cleanliness and lived with the belief that Cleanliness was next to Godliness. She was a loving mother and grandmother who always made each grandchild feel as if they were her favorite. She also treated everyone she knew and meet as if they were her own family. Mrs. Taylor was a member of New Hope Methodist Church.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Taylor was predeceased by her husband R.G. Taylor, her sister Mattie Aspinwall and her granddaughter Robyn Collins Herndon.
Survivors include her two daughters Sarah Diane Collins and Linda Faye Taylor both of Brunswick, GA; Son Rodney Wayne Taylor and his wife Yvonne of Brunswick, GA; Three Brothers Ottis Bargeron, Benjamin Bargeron, and Clinton Bargeron; Two sisters Florence Bruschke, and Cornelia Taylor; Four grandsons Robbie L. Collins, Lloyd F. Taylor, Scott Funk and Blake Taylor; Granddaughter Summer A. Lopez; Eight Great Grand Children Christopher Herndon, Shane Herndon, Sean Collins, Shelby Collins, August Taylor, Dawson Taylor, Taylor Funk, and Cameron Funk; and Great- Great Granddaughter Abby Herndon.
The family will receive friends on Sunday, March 31, 2013 from 6:00 PM-8:00 PM at Edo Miller and Sons Funeral Home.
Funeral Services will be held Monday, April 1, 2013 at 2:00 PM in the Chapel of Edo Miller and Sons Funeral Home with Pastor Ben Rainey officiating. Interment will follow in Emanuel United Methodist Church Cemetery in Brunswick, Georgia.
Serving as active pallbearers will be Robbie Collins, Lloyd Taylor, Scott Funk, Blake Taylor, Ray Bargeron, and Sam Carter.
Serving as honorary pallbearers will be the Members of New Hope Methodist Church.
