John Conti, charismatic friend, devoted husband, loving father, and life of the party found peace with the Lord on November 15, 2024 at the young age of 61. Though John resided on Saint Simons Island, he was a proud New Yorker.
Born on May 22, 1963 in Brooklyn, New York, John would often reminisce on ice cream shops, the perfect slice of pie, and playing stickball in the streets of the city. He was convinced anywhere you go, you would find a friend from Brooklyn.
John graduated from SUNY New Paltz with a bachelor's degree in business communications. He went on to find a long and successful career as a project manager in telecommunications. In 2010, John met the love of his life, soulmate, and best friend, and in 2012 he and Stephanie were married in Las Vegas, NV. It was a love story John was proud to share any chance he could.
John was an avid golfer and never missed an opportunity to play a round with friends. Sunday’s he could be found simmering sauce on the stove and cooking chicken cutlets for his family. He was an enthusiastic story-teller (even if many were repeated and elaborated on!), top notch DJ, and the greatest kitchen dance party host. You were never a stranger in John’s presence.
Of all the things he accomplished, John was most proud of his three boys. He enjoyed teaching them about baseball and was humble when they became more knowledgeable than him about the sport. Despite being a house divided; John, a life-long Mets fan and the boy's newly converted Braves fans, they loved to catch a game all together. John cherished celebrating their academic successes, teaching them about classic movies and helping them memorize the lyrics to his favorite songs. He was overjoyed to have them carry on the Conti name.
John is survived by his wife, Stephanie, sons, Luca, Brody, and Milo, sisters, Liz Danielsen, June Buonomo, MaryAnn Yoder (Tim), Judy Hammarberg, and an overabundance of nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, and friends who he considered family. He was predeceased by his mother Eleanor Conti, father Frank Conti, his brother Arnold Hammarberg, and brother in law’s Arvid Danielsen and Vincent Buonomo.
A celebration of life will be held Saturday, December 7th at 11:00am at Community Church on Saint Simons. Reception to immediately follow.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in support of the Conti boys directly to the family or through the GoFundMe “Rally for the Conti Family in John's Memory” (https://www.gofundme.com/f/wbzegu-rally-for-the-conti-family-in-johns-memory).
