Janet Elaine Beall Storch, 87, of St. Simons Island, passed away on Friday, July 19, 2024, in Fernandina Beach, Florida. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, July 23, 2024, at Wesley Methodist Church at Frederica, with Reverend Jim McIlrath officiating. Interment will follow at Christ Church Cemetery with family present.
Born on October 31, 1936, in Kansas City, MO, to the late Wendell Lee and Florence Estelle D. Beall, Janet was a graduate of York High School in Elmhurst, IL. She attended Michigan State University, where she majored in Retailing and Fashion Merchandising, and was a member of Alpha Delta Pi Sorority.
Janet's career included roles as an assistant personnel director at Rollmans Department Store and as an assistant store manager and lingerie buyer at J.P. Allen. She owned an interior design business and a candy bouquet business, and she served as the business manager for an interior design firm in Sarasota, FL. Additionally, Janet taught tailoring in adult night schools in Dayton, OH, and St. Louis, MO.
Her interests included entertaining, traveling, and playing Bridge. Janet was a resident of Glynn County since 2004 and dedicated 14 years as a volunteer at SGHS. She also volunteered at the Coastal Coalition for Children. As a member of Wesley Methodist Church at Frederica, she participated in the Heritage Sunday School Class, served as director of Children's Ministry, at First United Methodist Church, taught Bible School and Disciple Bible Study, and sang in the church choir.
Janet is survived by her husband of 61 years, Edmond Storch of St. Simons Island; her daughter, Kimberly Joiner, and her husband Bob of St. Simons Island; her son, Scott Storch, and his wife Laura of Kennesaw, GA; four grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday afternoon, July 23, 2024, at Wesley Methodist Church at Frederica from 1:00 p.m. until 1:45 pm.
