Friday May 3rd, 2024, the Golden Isles lost a well-respected and influential patron. James Matthew Clark (80) died of natural causes. He was well revered for his outstanding knowledge of plumbing and instructional skills. Astonishing people with his knowledge of names and dates of battles from the Civil war and World War 2. He was an avid reader and collector of signed first editions that he added to his vast library of books.
He is preceded in death by his parents, James "Buddy" and Lottie Clark of Brunswick. As well as his youngest son, Blaine Clark. He is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Edith Ann Clark. His son and grandchildren, Lance (Melodee) Clark, Dakota Clark, Cheyenne Clark, and John Herrin. His older brother, Tommy (Lavonia) Clark, and baby sister Vikki (Mike) Moody. Remembered by his nephews and nieces Bo (Carla) Clark, Teresa (Ed) Mason, Josh (Laura Beth) Moody, Jenny (Will) Meeks, great nephews and nieces.
He was part of the Graduation class of 1961 from Glynn Academy when he opted to proudly serve in the United States Air Force, where after various postings, was stationed at Elmendorf Air Force Base, Alaska for his remaining service time. Returning to Brunswick, he explored different career options in pipefitting and plumbing to finalizing his career at 70 years old as a Plumbing Instructor for the Home Builders Institute.
In 1970, he married his sweetheart, Edith, of 54 years and they raised their two children together in a home full of love and compassion. They were side by side through all these years till the end. They produced a lifetime full of memories with their beloved family and friends. Those wishing to show their respects, may join the family at his “Gathering” at the Altamaha Park Pavilion on June 15th between 10 am - 4 pm. Lunch will be at noon.
