James “Jimmy” Alfred Bradley, 76, of St. Simons Island passed away peacefully with his wife by his side on November 8, 2024. A Celebration of Life Mass will be conducted at 11:00am Monday, November 18, 2024 at St. William Catholic Church.
Jimmy was born October 26, 1948 in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida to the late Jack and Carolyn D. Bradley. After graduating Leon High School in Tallahassee, FL Jimmy served 4 years in the US Navy and was honorably discharged in 1971. When he returned from the Navy, Jimmy enrolled in Florida State University where he earned a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting in 1975.
Jimmy and his family moved to St. Simon’s Island, GA in 1978. Mr. Bradley started his professional career with Jekyll Island Authority in 1982 as Finance Director, then was promoted to the position of Executive Director. He served as the Finance Director for the City of Brunswick and retired in 2005. After retiring he earned his Boat Captain’s license and chartered boat tours in his free time.
Mr. Bradley was Confirmed as a member of St. William Catholic Church in 2009 and served as a Eucharistic Minister. He enjoyed golf, boating, tennis, gardening and painting. Jimmy volunteered at Manna House and St. Vincent de Paul Food Pantry.
Survivors include his wife of 16 years, Lori Nagem; his sister, Cissy Cloud (Marvin) of Tallahassee, FL; children Chris Bradley of Acworth, GA, Summer Little (Jason), Scott Bradley (Jennifer) both of St. Simon’s Island; stepchildren Mallory Rutledge (Mitchell) of Stone Mountain, GA and Robby Crowe of Savannah, GA. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Blake and Payton Bradley, Grace and Ben Little, Kinslee, Bella and Parker Bradley and Carson Savannah and Tanner Rutledge.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests contributions in Jimmy’s name to Manna House or Hospice of the Golden Isles. The family is thankful for the loving care given to him from Hospice of the Golden Isles.
