Born on March 23, 2005, Jackson was the son of Jeff and Laina Dodgen. His kindness, warmth, and spirit touched the lives of everyone he met. His deep faith in Jesus Christ guided his life and was an inspiration to those around him. Jackson’s kindness and empathy left a lasting impact in his short time with us.
A 2023 graduate of Glynn Academy, Jackson excelled academically, was a member of the National Honor Society, and served as Student Body President. He was also a talented percussionist in the school’s marching band and enjoyed serving at his church, First Baptist Church of Brunswick, where he was active in the youth group, sang in the choir, worked on the media team, and participated in every Vacation Bible School, youth camp and missions, here and abroad.
Jackson was a sophomore at the University of Georgia, where he was a pre-med major and wanted to be a trauma surgeon. He was a Presidential Scholar and was a member of the UGA Student Government Association, where he served as a First-Year Connect Representative and as Senate Chief of Staff.
Jackson worked in the UGA visitor’s center where he was able to share his love of the University as a tour guide. Jackson served as a university social media influencer/digital DAWGS. In addition, he was a member of Reformed University Fellowship. Further, he was inducted into the prestigious Tate Society, an honor reserved for the top 24 first-year students at UGA who have made significant contributions to the UGA community through academic excellence and leadership. Jackson’s love for UGA and his commitment to others were evident in everything he did.
Though Jackson’s time with us was far too short, the legacy he leaves behind is profound. His kindness, humility, and faith touched countless lives, and he will be remembered for his boundless compassion and dedication to others. Jackson’s memory will live on in the many lives he impacted, the friends he made, and the love he gave so freely.
He is survived by his parents, Jeff and Laina Dodgen; siblings, Bryson and Caroline; grandparents, Dean and Carolyn Dodgen; and many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends who loved him deeply.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, December 7th, from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM at First Baptist Church Brunswick, followed by a service at Noon.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Jackson Dodgen UGA Memorial Scholarship Fund, which will support students with a passion for connecting visitors with UGA, ensuring Jackson’s legacy continues: https://give.uga.edu/donations/jackson-dodgens-memorial/
