George Washington Hamilton, Sr. was born March 16, 1926 in Beaufort County, SC to Rosalie Hamilton. After his mother died he was reared by his grandmother, Mary Hamilton, until her death in 1934. At that time his aunt, Luevenia Hamilton Nobles and her husband, Alfred Nobles, Sr. took him in and reared him along with their children in the Pennick Community in Glynn County, GA. He attended school at the Good Shepherd Episcopal Church. Alfred Nobles, Sr., “Big Daddy” lovingly took him under his wings, taught him how to work hard and be a man and be responsible. He took up the trade of plumbing and worked at Hercules, Inc. for 36 years as a master pipefitter. He retired in 1988. This had working, loving, humble and God-fearing man married Rebecca Cynthia Armstrong on May 22, 1948. Along with his daughter, Pearlene, this union added 4 more children: Cathy, George Jr., Michael and Pamela.
He was baptized in 1971 as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses where he learned how to be a Christian man, husband and father. Now he gave his children a spiritual heritage by teaching them to be God-fearing. He enjoyed his responsibilities and privileges in the Christian congregation and regularly volunteered in the Kingdom Hall building work. In 1997 he lost his loving wife of 49 years, but after her death he married Connie Sue Hamilton. They joyfully served Jehovah for the last 15 years of his life. He faithfully and loyally remained one of Jehovah’s Witnesses until his death. He gained numerous spiritual brothers, sisters, children and grandchildren throughout his 43 years of faithful service to Jehovah.
George passed away on July 16, 2014 around 9:00 pm. Along with the aforementioned relatives he leaves behind two beloved nieces, Rosalie Bowen and Mary L. Bacon; two step children, a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, cousins, in-laws and friends.
During the last year and a half of his life, he lovingly adopted the caregivers of the Senior Care Center who generously and compassionately took care of his daily needs, and to this family we say “thank you”!
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, August 9, 2014 at 2:00 pm at Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witness, 4821 Altama Avenue, Brunswick. Brother Willie J. Walker, Jr. will officiate.
