Darrell was born in Russell, Kansas, to parents Walter Ray Campbell and Rosie Mildred Morganstern Campbell. He had a difficult upbringing but was determined to better himself. He was active in sports in high school and joined the Navy upon graduation. After his service to our country, Darrell used the GI bill and worked his way through college. He graduated from Kansas State with a Bachelor’s degree in Finance. After college, he moved from Kansas to join his cousin in Florida where he soon married and started a family.
Darrell was a man of many trades. He was neither afraid or felt he was too good for any job. His employment includes restaurant, military, bowling alley, finance, tires, custodial, warehouse, exterminator, and teaching. He was also a very social man. He enjoyed talking to everyone and always loved the opportunity to dance, in spite of his age.
Darrell is survived by his two daughters, Lisa Campbell Leggett Siebert and her husband, Sonny, of Albemarle, North Carolina and Cindy Campbell-Hammond and her husband, Michael, of Wrightstown, New Jersey; six grandchildren, Timothy “TJ” Leggett, Mindy Hammond, Zachary Leggett, Amber Siebert, Ashley Hammond and Sara Siebert; a great-granddaughter, Teagan Kuehl and his stepsons of approximately 25 years, Scott, Jeff and Kevin Karlsen and their wives and children.
Darrell’s memorialization will be by cremation.
Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.edomillerandsons.com for the Campbell family.
