It is with great sadness that the family of Corabelle Bacon Owens announce her passing on Sunday, March 30, 2025, at the age of 95. Born in Tattnall County, GA, she was raised in McIntosh County, where she later settled and lived with her husband.
Throughout her life, Corabelle was a devoted member of the First Baptist Church of Darien, where she also served as a Sunday School teacher. She dedicated over 35 years of service to J.D. Moore Oil Company, retiring after a long and fulfilling career. Corabelle found joy in the simple pleasures of life. She had a passion for working in her yard, tending to her garden, canning the fruits of her labor, and caring for the farm animals. Her dedication to her family and her strong work ethic will be remembered by all who knew her.
Corabelle will be lovingly remembered by her children: Marshall Lumley (Kathy), Ronnie Owens (Loretta), and Darrell Owens (Angie); and her son-in-law, Edwin Deloach; 18 grandchildren, 33 great-grandchildren, 34 great-great-grandchildren; and her sisters: Mary Kate Fleming (Bill) and Rita Gail Young (Glenn). She also leaves behind numerous nieces and nephews; other family members and friends.
Corabelle was preceded in death by her husband, Leo E. Owens; her daughter, Linda Owens Deloach; her grandson, Buck Owens; her parents, Luther and Dorothy (Hawthorne) Bacon; her sisters, Virginia “Jenny” Crosby and Jewel Luke; and her brother, Gene Bacon.
Visitation will be held Monday, April 7, from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at First Baptist Church, 201 5th St W, Darien, GA 31305, followed by a ceremony at 11:00 AM with Pastor Danny Stillwell and Pastor Jack Peeler officiating. Burial will follow at St. Andrew’s Cemetery, in Darien, Georgia. Pallbearers will be: David Lumley, Robert Deloach, Christopher Lumley, Jeremy Owens, Corbett Deloach, Adrian Saldana.
The family wishes to send a special thank you to Dr. David Heine, Dr. Mark Watkins, and their staff for the many years of care and compassion for Corabelle.
