Mrs. Clyde Hall Rogers was born October 14, 1918 to Zacariah Hall and Annie Lee Willis Hall. She was the eighth child in a family of eleven. Clyde passed away Friday March 25, 2011 at the age of 92 at Baptist Village in Waycross, Georgia.
She was born in Tift County, Georgia and graduated from Brantley County High School in Nahunta, Georgia. After graduation, Clyde moved to Brunswick, Georgia where she met “the love of her life”, James Henry (Jimmy) Rogers. They were married in November 1941.
Clyde spent many years in Brunswick as a banker at The American National Bank. She was a wonderful homemaker and the brave mother of five children. Clyde was also President of the Goodyear School PTA for many years. She was very active in the First Baptist Church of Brunswick and a member of the Joy Sunday School Class.
Throughout her life, she had a love for writing poetry. Clyde wrote poems for birthdays, weddings, retirements and for any special occasion, happy or sad. Many people requested poems for various family milestones.
She is preceded in death by her beloved husband, James Henry Rogers and her daughter, Mary Anne Rogers Dunaway, as well as two brothers, Elzie Hall and Herbert L. Hall. In addition, she is preceded in death by six sisters: Maudie Hall, Lois Hall, Mildred Branch, Lucille Connor, Evelyn Dixon and Emma Lou Hagen.
Clyde is survived by four children, Billy Rogers of Fernandina, Jimmy Rogers (Mary) of Mandeville, Louisiana; Sherry Rogers Dart of Vienna, Virginia and Richard Rogers (Jill) of North Augusta, South Carolina. She is also survived by a sister, Hazel Rigdon of Brunswick, as well as many nieces and nephews.
Her most precious grandchildren include Ellen Rogers, Houston Texas; Joe Rogers, Mandeville, Louisiana; Jennifer Rogers Dart, Vienna, Virginia; Rob Dart (Lynette) Los Angeles, California; Alisha Yonce (Gabe) St. Simons Island; Zack Rogers and Zoe Rogers of North Augusta, South Carolina. Clyde also has one great grandchild, Katelyn Silva of St. Simons Island.
Funeral Services will be held at 11 AM Tuesday March 29, 2011 in the First Baptist Church of Brunswick with Dr. Peter Vivenzio and Rev. Jimmy Crandall officiating. Interment will follow in Palmetto Cemetery in Brunswick. The family will receive friends in the Funeral Home from 6 to 8 PM Monday March 28,2011.
Active pallbearers will be: Rob Dart, Joe Rogers, Zack Rogers, Terry Rigdon, Bob Edwards, Barry Inman, Paul Klimp and Lawton Tollison. Honorary pallbearers will be: Dr. Ronnie Hagen, Dr. A. W. Strickland, Dr. William Grubb, Tony Martin, Raymond Mock, Robert Hagen, Donahue Hagen, Phil Newton, Wilbert Taylor, nursing staff at Baptist Village in Waycross and Emma Cox
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Baptist Village 2650 Carswell Avenue, Waycross, Georgia 31503.
