Charles Wilburn Reed Jr.

Charles W. Reed, Jr, 83 years of age, passed away peacefully on December 15, 2024 from esophageal cancer at Hospice of the Golden Isles. He was a resident of Saint Simons Island since 1999. Charles was born September 29, 1941 in Columbus, Georgia to the late Charles and Katherine Reed. He was the oldest of two children. Charles attended high school in Albany, Georgia and graduated from the University of Georgia with a Bachelor’s degree in Business. He was in the sales industry his entire work career finishing as a regional sales manager for Atofina Chemical.

Charles married Toinette Dorman Brown in 1963 and went on to have three children- Charles Reed, Peyton Reed, and Toinette Reed.

Charles was a devoted man and loving father. He had many passions which included hunting, fishing, golfing, reading, and cheering on his beloved Georgia Bulldogs. He enjoyed helping others and spending time with his family. He always had a good story or joke to share. His knowledge and wisdom of life will be greatly missed.

Charles is survived by his wife of 61 years, his brother Gary Reed and wife Paula. His children: Charles Reed and wife Melanie, Peyton Reed and wife Kim, Toinette Reed and wife Morgan. Grandchildren: Morgan Vining and husband Chard, Gary Reed, Andrew Reed, Shawn Reed, Heather Reed, Payton Reed. Great Grandchild: Preston Vining.

Per Charles request, there will be no service. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Hospice of the Golden Isles.
