Brian was born in Brooklyn, NY, the son of Henry and Margaret Mallon. He was a graduate of Temple University in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, where he received his Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting.
He served four years in the United States Army during which time he received the Defense Service Medal.
Following his military service, Brian began his almost 39-year career with the Federal Government. His service began with a position at the Willow Grove Naval Air Station in Pennsylvania, where he met Ann, his wife for almost 49 years. He transferred to the U.S. Frankford Arsenal in Philadelphia where he served as payroll clerk and then as Manager of the Officers’ Club. His Government career continued as a U.S. Customs Service Inspector in Philadelphia. In 1981, he and his family moved to the Golden Isles to continue his career as an Instructor and Assistant Director at the U. S. Customs Academy located at the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center until retirement.
Not a man to stand idle, Brian continued employment as Court Security officer at the County Court House in Brunswick, until he felt the call to return to Federal employment as a U. S Deputy Marshall Court Security Officer at the Federal Court House.
Brian was a wonderful dedicated husband to his surviving wife, Ann and a loving father to his two children Elizabeth Rowe and Michael Mallon. He enjoyed being “Pop-Pop” to his six extraordinary grandchildren.
One of Brian’s favorite activities was traveling whenever the opportunity was there. He was very interested in antique automobiles and was President of the Brunswick Golden Isles Antique Automobile Club for a number of years. Brian was someone who “never met a stranger” and always enjoyed a good laugh.
God and family were in the forefront of everything that Brian loved. He had been a member of Saint William Catholic Church since 1981. He served on the Parish Council, the Finance Committee, and the Hospitality Committee. He was also a Eucharistic Minister and an Usher. One of his proudest honors was to receive the Bishop’s Albert X. Gartland Award in 2012. This award is an honor bestowed by the Diocese of Savannah on persons who have given distinguished service to the Church in the tradition of its first Bishop, Francis X. Gartland.
Brian was predeceased by his parents, his sister Karen, and two brothers Ronald and Kerry Mallon. He is survived by his wife, Ann; daughter Elizabeth Rowe (Hal); son, Michael Mallon; six grandchildren: Jacob and Henry Rowe; Anna-Grace, Marit, Miles, and Anderson Mallon.
Visitation will be on Sunday May 13 from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. at St. William Catholic Church, 2300 Frederica Road, Saint Simons Island. The Celebration of Life Mass will be held on Monday, May 14 at 11:00 a.m. also at St. William Catholic Church. Inurnment with military honors will follow in the church columbarium.
