Anthony Luke Kicklighter, 45, of Shellman Bluff, Georgia watched the sun rise over the Sapelo River, a place he loved, for a final time on Friday, August 6, 2021. At that moment, he entered into Heaven’s Gates.
Luke was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Celt and Alma Kicklighter; his maternal grandparents, Woodrow and Jewel Luke.
Luke was a resident of Bluffton, SC for most of his life and relocated to Shellman Bluff 7 years ago. He was a 1993 graduate of Hilton Head High School and a University of Georgia graduate with a Master’s Degree in Invertebrate Zoology. He was a former Marine Biologist with the Georgia Department of Natural Resources and NOAA. He was of the Baptist faith. He loved animals, the ocean, all things Disney, his beloved Georgia Bulldogs and most of all his family. He hated the cold, the Florida Gators, and unkindness. He was gentle and good and could strike up a conversation with anyone. He was an avid Scuba Diver and had a passion for saving the Coral Reefs. He also worked with the Dolphin Research Center in Grassy Key, Florida doing his internship while a UGA student. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Left to cherish his many fond memories are his parents, James C. Kicklighter Jr. and Kathy Luke Kicklighter of Bluffton, SC; his brother and sister-in-law, David and Allison Kicklighter of Yulee, FL; also two nephews, Kelton and Kullen Kicklighter. Several aunts, uncle, and cousins also survive.
Due to the COVID pandemic, a celebration of life service to honor Luke's life will be held at a later date.
Memorial contribution may be made to the Coral Reef Alliance or the Dolphin Research Center in in Grassy Key, FL, or the Turtle Hospital in Marathon, FL.
