Wanda was born November 30, 1930 in Fort Dodge, Iowa. She was the daughter of George Elmer Loving and Elsie Evelyn Loving. On November 26, 1965, she married William Dean West and together they celebrated 54 wonderful years together. She was a dedicated wife and mother who loved her family dearly and strived to instill Godly values and morals with each of her children. She was a faithful prayer warrior who loved to study the Bible and could always be counted on to give a scripture filled encouraging word. She loved reading, was a wonderful cook & enjoyed working in her yard tending her plants and flowers. She was a former pastor’s wife, Sunday school teacher, substitute teacher and food service worker as well as a member of First Baptist Church in Brownsville.
She is survived by her husband, William Dean West, a daughter, Anita K. Diaz and husband Michael of Brownsville, two sons William Scott West and wife Jessica of Genoa City, Wisconsin & Douglas Gene West and wife Priscilla of Dexter, Missouri; her 8 grandchildren; Jonathan, Brandon, Joslyn, Malachi, Dustin, Matthew, Hannah & Jayda; her sister, Emily Lavone Freymiller of Boerne, Texas; brother, Edwin Mitchell Loving of New Berlin, Wisconsin and sister, Carolyn Ann Summerfield of La Vista, Nebraska. She was preceded in death by her parents, Elmer and Elsie(Mitchell) Loving; one brother, Wesley Elmer Loving, and two sisters, Elvina Marie Varner and Elsie Joyce Parrish.
A special thank you is extended to each of her wonderful providers who went above and beyond to show their love & care. Each exhibited their wonderful personalities in countless ways of kindness to her. To all the staff at Fox Hollow Post Acute, thank you for the excellent care & compassion extended to our mother especially during this very difficult time of separation due to the covid-19 lockdown. The entire staff is remarkable and we’re so grateful for the emotional and physical support she received.
Funeral arrangements are being provided by Del Angel Funeral Home, 4464 Old Port Isabel Rd., Brownsville, Texas 78526. Flowers may be sent to Rose Lawn Memorial Gardens at the same address or a memorial contribution may be made to First Baptist Church, 1600 Old Alice Road, Brownsville, Texas 78520. Visitation will be held Friday, August 14th at First Baptist Church, from 4-7pm followed with a memorial service at 7pm. Burial will follow on Saturday, August 15th at 10am at Rose Lawn Memorial Gardens Cemetery. Pallbearers include her sons: Scott and Doug; son-in-law, Michael; and grandsons: Malachi, Dustin and Matthew.
