Rolando a native of Brownsville served in the United States military for ten years during the Vietnam War, in the Air Force and Navy Seabees. Rolando also served his community as a teacher for Brownsville ISD at Pace H.S. and Lucio M.S. He enjoyed spending time with his family, barbequing, coaching basketball and volleyball and watching sports. Rolando will be dearly missed by all who knew him.
He is preceded in death by his mother; Mary Ramos Barron; sister, Esther Mercado and brother, Michael Acevedo.
Rolando is survived by his loving wife, Margarita Reyna Barron; children, Rene Barron (Emily), Rolando Barron, Jr., and Robert Barron (Rhiannon Hobbs); grandchildren, Elena and Eli Barron; father, Gonzalo Barron; siblings, Norma Molina (Albert), Arnold Barron (Virginia) and Sylvia Kimbrough (Jay); sisters-in-law, Linda Guerrero, Diana Hernandez, Dahlia Aguilar, Rosie Salinas, Pam Van Ravenswaay, Gloria Zapata, Rebecca Reyna and Sarita Reyna; brothers-in-law, Hector Reyna and Ramiro Salinas and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, June 11, 2014 from 12pm to 9pm with a recitation of the holy rosary at 7pm at Funeraria del Angel Buena Vista.
Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10am Thursday, June 12 2014 at St. Joseph Catholic Church located at 555 W. St. Francis St. Brownsville, TX. 956-542-2709. Committal service to follow at Buena Vista Burial Park.
Serving as pallbearers will be, Aaron Aguilar, Alex Aguilar, Michael Hernandez, Brad Bowers, Michael Ezekiel and David Gibson.
Honorary pallbearers will be Johnny Jones, Ruben Peña and Manuel Gomez.
