Nena was born in Victoria, Texas, the youngest of 10 children. She attended a one room school house in Riviera, Texas. She hated that they taught her needlepoint and crocheting but enjoyed math. They moved down to Brownsville because of the railroad here she attended El jardín Elem. whenever they took her. Then whey moved into town she attended Annie S. Putegnat Elem. She loved school but was not able to continue after 6th grade. She worked at PANAM, booth and later she ran a grocery store on Southmost Rd. A hard worker, she also sold Fuller Brush Products, Avon and even tamales to make extra money. After retirement, she had a small shop at the 77 Flea Market. Nena enjoyed her life to the fullest. Dancing was her greatest joy. she would lovingly sing Las Mañanitas early morning over the phone, to each of her children on their birthday. Family gatherings with children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Ramona is preceded in death by her parents Aniceto and Juanita Saldivar ; siblings, Felipa, Felipe , Dominga, Eloísa, Enriqueta, Natividad, Guadalupe, Lupita, Aniceto, and María Magdalena; son Felix ; grandchildren; Leilani, Brenda and Joel ; niece (her sidekick) Rita Cantu. Nena is survived by her daughters; Yolanda (Rene*) Rodriguez , Dr. Minerva Villarreal, Irma Ochoa, Griselda (James) Bock, María Magdalena Lozano, Delia Macías, Lynda (Bill) Scoggins, Foster Child/Niece: Elvia S. Cecil, sons; Armando (Lynn) Medrano, Jose (Dora) Arnoldo Recio, Ruben (Elsa) Recio, and Raul Saldivar. 27 grandchildren , numerous great grandchildren and 5 great-great grandchildren. Honorary Pallbears will be Armando Medrano, Jose A. Recio, Ruben Recio, Bill Scoggins, Gilberto Villarreal ll, Julian Ochoa, Jay Recio, David A. Nicol ll, James Bock and Thomas Lynch. Pallbearers will be Derrick Scoggins, Jerry Villarreal, Jesse Balboa, Gabriel Recio, Chris Recio, and Buddy Scoggins. A Visitation will be held Wednesday February 24, 2021 from 1 pm- 9 pm with a Rosary at 7 pm in Funeraria Del Angel Buena Vista. A mass will be Thursday February 25, 2021 at 9 am in Immaculate Conception Cathedral Catholic Church followed by a burial at Buena Vista Burial Park.
