Ramiro Ramírez Martínez, 87, passed away on Monday, October 18, 2021 at Spanish Meadows Nursing Center in Brownsville, Texas. He was a lifelong resident of Brownsville, Texas, where he was born on February 3, 1934.
Ramiro is preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Jose Ramirez Gil and Dolores Peña Luna, his maternal grandparents, Jose Refugio Martínez and Francisca Molina Villarreal, his parents, Alfonso Ramírez Peña and Damiana Martínez Molina, his brothers Alfonso, Roberto, Refugio and sister María Guadalupe.
He is survived by his spouse, Guadalupe Guerrero Cardenas (Ramírez), his son, Ramiro Jr. (Enerieda); his step-children: Rosalinda (†), Yolanda, Sylvia, Miguel, and Nathanael; his three grandchildren: Ramiro III, Ricardo and Raphael; his step-granddaughter Zamaira; his siblings: Valentin and Sofia, and many nephews, nieces and step-grandchildren.
Ramiro was drafted by the U.S. Army through which he received his sharpshooter training in Fort Bliss, Texas and his structural steel specialist training at Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri. He served in Company C 46th Engineers Battalion at Ft. Hood, Texas, where he received an honorable discharge in 1957.
He earned his Applied Arts Occupational Training Certificate from Texas Southmost College in Brownsville after completing 2000 hours of instruction in Air Conditioning and Refrigeration.
As a 30+ veteran air conditioning technician, Ramiro worked for Chico’s A/C (1 year), Auto Air Conditioning (5 years) & Crown Auto Air Conditioning (26 years). He retired in 1999.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, October 24, 2021 from 1 p.m. to 9 p.m. at Funeraria Del Angel Buena Vista with a rosary at 7 p.m. Funeral services will be held on Monday, October 25, 2021 at 10 a.m. Funeraria Del Angel Buena Vista. Interment will follow at Buena Vista Burial Park with military honors.
Pallbearers will be Ramiro Ramírez Jr., Nathanael Flores, Miguel García, Ramiro Ramírez III, Ricardo Ramírez, and Raphael Ramírez.
