Maria Del Carmen Anzaldua Perez

Maria Carmen Perez, age 73, passed in peace Saturday, January 16th with family by her side. She was born in Brownsville, Texas to Jose and Amelia Anzaldua, where she married and lived until later moving to Dallas, Texas in 1970. Carmen was caring and always ready to give a helping hand to anyone in need. She loved and was dearly loved by her children, grandchildren and great grandchild. She spent countless hours with the grandchildren doing whatever they wanted to do, and she loved every minute of it. One of her other favorite things to do was to sit and enjoy great conversation with family members and friends over a cup of coffee (or two, or three), and of course, a little something sweet to go with it. Carmen loved to listen to Tejano music and watch Law and Order and CSI (and let’s not forget her novelas!). She was a wonderful, strong and amazing woman. Carmen was loved by many and will be greatly missed.

Carmen was preceded in death by daughter Melida Perez Lopez (†); husband Amalio Perez (†); and brothers Joe Anzaldua III (†) and Ernesto Anzaldua (†). Carmen is survived by sons Francisco Perez and Amalio Perez II; daughter Monica Demenjon; son-in-law Miguel Demenjon; daughter-in-law Amie Perez; sisters Juanita Alatorre (Julio (†)), Romie Sosa (John), Amelia Snipes (Tommy), and Veronica Anzaldua; brothers Manuel Anzaldua (Ninfa), Alex Anzaldua, and Henry Anzaldua (Amy); grandchildren Alexandria Perez, Sasha Demenjon, Josh Perez, Cesar Lopez, Amalio Perez III, and Stella Perez; and great grandchild Little Amelia Perez.

A visitation for Carmen will be held Sunday, January 24, 2021 from 3:00 PM to 5:30 PM at Funeraria del Angel Buena Vista, 125 Mcdavitt Blvd, Brownsville, Texas 78521, with a Rosary to follow from 5:30 PM to 6:00 PM. Mass will be held at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church Monday, January 25, 2021 at 11:00 AM, 1200 Lincoln Street, Brownsville, Texas 78521. Burial will follow at Rose Lawn Memorial Gardens, 4464 Old Port Isabel Road, Brownsville, Texas 78521.
