Estella was born and raised in Brownsville Texas. For many years, Estella worked as a cafeteria manager for BISD and after retirement she continued to enjoy her craft of cooking by sharing home cooked meals with her family. She was a dedicated mother to her children and was always happy to see them reach their goals.
Estella had a great joy for spending time with her family and looked forward to traditional Sunday Breakfast of barbacoa and pan dulce. Estella had a love for watching western shows and football. After retirement, Estella could be found at Sam's Stadium on Friday nights watching the Hanna Golden Eagle football games. During the football season, she also enjoyed watching the Dallas Cowboys.
Estella enjoyed the many visits from friends, family, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Estella will be remembered for all the roles she played as a mother, grandmother, great grandmother, friend, neighbor and someone you could always strike a conversation with.
Estela is survived by her children; Guadalupe Castro, Estela Jaramillo (Eduardo) and Sylvia Flores (Ricardo), her grandchildren; Joe Castro (Santa), Robert Garcia, Ricardo Flores Jr., Christopher Castro (Leslie), Kacy Castro, Deejaye Castro, Diana De La Llata (Jesus) and Patricia Flores.
Estela was preceded in death by her daughter; Amelia Garcia †, her parents; Guadalupe Maldonado † and Josefina Labrada Maldonado †; her siblings; Ramon Maldonado †, Mary Maldonado † and Roberto Maldonado †.
Mrs. Garcia also left behind numerous Great-Grand children.
A visitation for Estela will be held Tuesday, February 27, 2024 from 2:00 PM to 9:00 PM in Chapel of Peace at Funeraria del Angel Buena Vista & Buena Vista Burial Park, 125 Mcdavitt Blvd, Brownsville, Texas 78521. A chapel service will occur Wednesday, February 28, 2024 at 2:00 PM, 125 Mcdavitt Blvd, Brownsville, Texas 78521, followed by a burial on Wednesday, February 28, 2024 at 3:00pm at Buena Vista Burial Park, 5 Mcdavitt Blvd, Brownsville, Texas 78521.
Serving as pallbearers are Robert Garcia, Ricardo Flores Jr. , Ricardo Flores, Eduardo Jaramillo, Alejandro De La Llata, Guadalupe Castro, Jose Guadalupe Castro and Christopher Castro.
