Daniel Rodriguez, Jr., completed his journey on this earth on July 4, 2013, at the age of 89. A native of Brownsville, Texas and a World War II veteran, he and his wife moved to Pearland, Texas with their daughter and son-in-law in 1997.
His career included positions with the Point Isabel Independent School District and the Brownsville Independent School District as an Industrial Technology instructor at Faulk Junior High. Daniel was also a long-time employee of Coach Gus Zavaletta.
Mr. Rodriguez was preceded in death by his parents, Daniel Rodriguez, Sr. and Herminia Saldivar Rodriguez; his wife, Rosita C. Rodriguez; a brother, Ricardo Rodriguez; and a daughter, Rosalinda Rodriguez.
Surviving Daniel are his children, Daniel Rodriguez III, Diana R. Sanchez, Corina R. (David G.) Guerrero, Gerardo “Jerry”(Elena) Rodriguez; his brothers, Elizardo (Carmen)Rodriguez and Jorge (Hermelinda) Rodriguez; his sisters, Blanca R. Camarillo and Herminia “Minnie” (Andres, Sr.) R. Hinojosa. Grandchildren that survive him are Michael Anthony and Marleen Ariell Guerrero, Gregory Daniel, Amanda Gabriel, Lilly, Mireya and Elisa Rodriguez and other grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren, nephews, and nieces.
Visitation for Mr. Rodriguez will begin from 10 a.m. until 9 p.m., today, Sunday, July 7, 2013 at Funeraria Del Angel Buena Vista with the recitation of the Holy Rosary to be held at 7 p.m. A Chapel Service will be held at 10 a.m. on Monday, July 8, 2013 Funeraria Del Angel Buena Vista., with a committal Service to follow to Buena Vista Burial Park. Military Honors will be held at the graveside by the American Legion Post 43 under the command of Raul Leal.
Honored to be serving as Mr. Rodriguez’s pallbearers are Gerardo “Jerry” Rodriguez, David G. Guerrero, Michael A. Guerrero, Hector Camarillo, Armando Martinez, and Alex Martinez. Honorary pallbearers will be Elizardo Rodriguez and Jorge Rodriguez.
