She was born on July 16, 1927 in Brownsville and in 1943 she married the love of her life, Juan C. Galvan of Port Isabel and were married for 68 ½ years. Together they survived World War II and thereafter built a home and family that would be difficult to rival: 11 children, 22 grandchildren, and 25 great-grandchildren.
Known for her gentle, loving manner, home cooking and sense of humor, she loved seafood and being surrounded by her large family, making everyone feel special and loved. She loved the holidays, when family would come from near and far to visit and partake in the regular barbecues for which the Galvan family was well known. Later in life, she developed a love for painting abstract art, a talent that she had already passed on to her children. She will be dearly missed, but her spirit of unconditional love will abide in our hearts forever.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Jesus and Dorothea Rivera and her sister Maria Solis.
Carmen is survived by her loving husband, Juan; her two sisters, Shelly Rivera and Dorothy Bustinza; all of her 11 children, Dora Gomez (Ramon), Albert Galvan, Oralia Ochoa (Juan), Bertha Cruz (Juan), Ofelia Rodriguez (Gregorio), Johnny Galvan, Eddie Galvan (Marilyn), Gracie Fox, Javier Galvan (Silvia), Veronica Lucas (Tim) and Roland Galvan (Felicity).
