WADDY, Willie Lee, Sr., age 70, passed away Thursday, August 21, 2014 at James A. Haley VA Hospital, Tampa, Florida. A native of Brooksville, Willie Lee Waddy, Sr., affectionately known as “Buddy”, was born February 28, 1944 to the late Henry and Lula Waddy.
He was a 1963 graduate of Moton High School where he excelled in athletics. He was Quarterback for the football team and had a 95 plus MPH fast ball. He was drafted into the United States Army, spending most of his active time in Germany. After returning home, Willie returned to work as a supervisor for Florida Crushed Stone, where he retired in 2004 after 43 years of service. He enjoyed attending movies, car shows, car auctions and refurbishing cars. He believed that an ounce of loyalty is worth a pound of cleverness!
Willie was a fighter, and on Thursday, August 21, 2014, he received a call from God advising him that his mansion was complete. He informed Willie to change his address and take possession right away. Willie’s home was finished and what a sight to behold. It is located on an exclusive estate behind the pearly gate, surrounded by a beautiful lake, where the roads are paved with gold and every day is Sunday. Willie was fitted with his own white robe, golden slippers and his own pair of wings.
He left to cherish his memories sons & daughters-in-law: Earsel & Sherry Waddy, Dominic Waddy, Willie, Jr. & Val Waddy, Tony Waddy, Willie “Fluke” Waddy, Patrick Waddy and Clifford Gaynor; daughters & son-in-law: Bridgette Waddy, Mary & Cleve King, Veronica Williams and Hawaii Wells; sisters & brothers-in-law: Fannie & Walter Williams, Alberta & Bill Williams, Bertha & Otis Brown, Shirley & William Burns, Myra Brooks and Linda Waddy; brothers & sisters-in-law: Fred & Geraldine Waddy, John & Shirley Waddy, Samuel & Cynthia Waddy, Robert Waddy & Dexter Waddy; a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
