He is survived by his sister, Ruby (and Gene) Middleton with nieces and nephews; grandson, Christopher Lee Hamilton (Meghann); great-granddaughter, Harper Lee Hamilton; dearest love Mona Callahan and John & Cyndi DuCasse. He is preceded in death by his wife, Francis Hamilton; his son, Arthur Lee Hamilton; and his sister, Norma Jean Hamilton.
At the age of 14, Richard tried to join the WWII effort by forging his parents’ signature and age to help. After a few attempts he eventually (legally) joined the USAF where he retired after 24 years as a Chief Master Sergeant. He continued his love and dedication to his country by working in the government sector for Allied Chemicals (helping to develop and test the first seatbelts and airbags) and General Dynamics before retiring and moving to Florida in 1995.
Throughout his life (and in Florida) he continued his enjoyment of golfing (3 hole-in-one’s and many golf tournament accomplishments), bowling, traveling (19 cruise trips amongst them), becoming rewarded a life-long member of The Masons and continuing his airplane enthusiasm (starting in the Air Force).
Richard was continuously a generous and warm hearted person that enjoyed helping others by noticing important details and using those without needing acknowledgment or praise.
