He was born February 28, 1935 in Jersey City, New Jersey to Walter Kelly & Antoinette Kolar Kelly. He retired in the year 2000, after working for 40 years as an Agent for the Internal Revenue Service. During this time, he would begin his work day by driving the New Jersey Transit Bus with a load of passengers in to New York City, and at the end of his work day drive the bus and its passengers back to New Jersey. Mr. Kelly moved to Brooksville 22 years ago from Hazlet, New Jersey, he was a Veteran of the U.S. Army, “Hell on Wheels” Division, member of St. Anthony the Abbot Catholic Church of Brooksville and life member of the Knights of Columbus both in New Jersey and Florida.
Mr. Kelly is survived by his wife, Stephanie; daughters & son-in-law: Lorraine Kelly of Brooksville, Florida and Stephanie & Robert Hollenfer of Hazlet, New Jersey; brothers & sisters-in-law: George & Carol Kelly of Holmdel, New Jersey and Tony & Sandy Kelly of Tizerton, Rhode Island. He was preceded in death by his brother, Richard Kelly and aunt, Margaret Kelly.
Visitation for friends will be 2 – 4pm, Tuesday, July 5, 2022 at the Merritt Funeral Home, Brooksville Chapel. Funeral Mass will be celebrated 11:00am, Wednesday, July 6, 2022 at St. Anthony the Abbot Catholic Church. Interment will follow at the Florida National Cemetery, Bushnell, Florida. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Florida Sheriff’s Youth Ranch.
