Mertie Lee Brown

Mertie Brown was born on September 16, 1929 in Bonifay, Florida. Her parents were John and Ada Lee. Mertie died peacefully in her sleep on June 16, 2023 at her assisted living in Inverness, Fl. She was a longtime member of Grace World Outreach Church. Mertie was a homemaker. She loved gardening, crafting, cooking, and spending time with her family.

She is preceded in death by her parents John and Ada Lee, husband Blon Brown; children John Richard Brown and Barbara Mylrea, brothers Buddy and Bill Lee, and sisters Ellie McKinley, Shirley Sands, and Ruth Sellers. Mertie is survived by her son-in-law PJ Mylrea; daughter-in-law Gina McDonald; sisters – Norma and Bill Johnson, Johnnie Smith, Rebecca Twiss, grandchildren – Michael Brown, Cyndi Mylrea, Michelle Crawford, Ben and Traci Mylrea, and Christina and Eric Ellis, great-grandchildren – Tyler and Jessica Mylrea, Bryce Mylrea, Riley Mylrea, Keaton Ellis, Connor Ellis, Jessica Brown, Justin Cody Brown, Trey Brown, Laney Brown, and Luke Brown, great-great grandchildren – Emma Pemberton and Amelia Mylrea.

A Visitation for Mertie will be held Thursday, June 29, 2023 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at First United Methodist Church of Brooksville, 109 S. Broad Street, Brooksville, FL 34601, where Funeral Services will begin at 11:00am. A Graveside Service will follow at 12:30 PM at Florida National Cemetery, 6502 SW 102nd Ave., Bushnell, FL 33513.
