He was born July 16, 1947 in Toa Baja, Puerto Rico and came to the area 10 years ago. He was a United States Army veteran of the Vietnam, Desert Storm and Enduring Freedom conflicts, serving his country for 26 years, retiring as a Sergeant E5. He enjoyed movies and loved to spend time with his family and grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife of 49 years: Socorro Garcia; son and daughter-in-law: Jose Garcia Velazquez and Iliana Lorenzara of Puerto Rico; daughters and son-in-law: Zivany E. Garcia Velazquez of Puerto Rico and Zilmary A. Garcia & Otto Ramos of Spring Hill, Florida; sister: Nitza Garcia of Puerto Rico; nine grandchildren.
A Visitation for family and friends will be held from 2:00-4:00pm and 6:00-8:00pm, Tuesday, September 8, 2020 at the Merritt Funeral Home, Spring Hill Chapel, where Funeral Services will be held at 11:00am, Wednesday, September 9, 2020. Interment will follow at 1:30pm at Florida National Cemetery.
