Most important to Don was his love for his wife, children, and his faith. Every aspect of his life centered around loving his wife and children as well as fulfilling God’s calling in his life. Don came to Brooksville 37 years ago from Titusville, Florida. He achieved a Master’s Degree in Education from Appalachian State and spent his career shaping the lives of countless young men and women as a Principle, Administrator, and finally retiring as Interim Superintendent of Schools in Hernando County. His retirement years were spent enjoying his family and playing as much golf as he could each day until dark-thirty. Don was a member of the Brooksville Kiwanis Club and Phi Delta Kappa. He attended Faith Evangelical Presbyterian Church with his family.
Don is preceded in death by his son, Blane. He is survived by his wife of 49 years: Martha Carol Brown; daughter: Kim Hunnicutt and family, Blake, Haley and J.B. Hunnicutt; son: Boyd Brown and family, Areen, Emma, and Bree Brown; Blane’s children: Kendall and Davis Brown; as well as all other family and friends whose heart Don touched. He was a very loving husband, father, Poppy and friend. He left wonderful memories for us all to cherish until we meet again in Heaven.
Visitation for family and friends will be 1:00pm-2:00pm, Sunday, July 23, 2017 at Merritt Funeral Home in Brooksville, FL. A private celebration of life and burial will follow at Brooksville Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Cheryl Griffin’s Foster Home.
