Charlie Hinson, 77, of Brooksville, Florida, passed away on Saturday, August 9, 2014 at his residence. He was born on July 31, 1937, in Staten Island, New York, to Christopher & Josephine (Tencza) Hinson, in Staten Island, NY. Charlie was a resident of 20 years in Brookridge; he lived a total of 30 years as a resident of Brooksville and he was Lutheran by faith. Mr. Hinson retired as a Tug Boat Captain and started out as a deck hand and worked his way up to Captain. Charlie was an avid saltwater fisherman, especially “The Florida FLATS.” Mr. Hinson was a long time Mason from Lodge #66, Richmond, Staten Island, New York. He was preceded in death by his parents: Christopher & Josephine (Tencza) Hinson. Charlie will be missed by his sons: Craig N. and his wife, Patricia Hinson of Staten Island, New York and Charles H. Hinson of Staten Island, New York; 2 granddaughters: Grace and Faith Hinson of Effort, Pennsylvania; sister, Marie and her husband, Jack Hill of Staten Island, New York and by his longtime companion, Anita Scanlon of Brooksville, Florida. At Charlie’s request there will be no formal services.
