People like Aunt Susie come by less frequently than we know. We all have our faults, our doubts, out worries. Aunt Susie seemed to rise above the fray. I had a unique relationship with her and Uncle Phil. I belong more in their time than in mine. I understood her  stoic strength, her composure, and her ability to keep it real; stay human.  I miss the conversations, in Sicilian, I had with Uncle Phil. I miss the connection that Aunt Susie had with my life. It was my honor to dance the night away with her at what I remember to be the first party she attended without Uncle Phil.  We all lost something when we lost them. Lets hold on to the memories and the love and cherish the ones who remain with us. That's the least we can do for them.

I will never forget my Aunt Susie. I miss her strength; I miss her courage; her laughter and her grace. Regardless of what may have been happening in her life, she took time to ask about me. A handful of people can leave a mark in your life, Aunt Susie left a big mark on mine.

I cannot believe that it is already a whole year since Susan's passing.  I didn't see her often, but when I did she was always a gentle, soft spoken woman who showed her family & her friends all the love she could give.  I will always remember her for making the 'Cucidati Cookies', (Sicilian fig-filled cookies).  May she rest in peace.

My memories of you are held dear to my heart- I practically grew up in your house, downstairs with Marissa. I remember all the times the two of us would go with you and Nina to the mall, to school functions, and on many other adventures. I remember your smile and how happy you always were. You were very much like a grandmother to me too. You are sorely missed by everyone but you are kept alive in all of our hearts. I am so grateful you were part of my life. Till we all meet again ❤

I can't seem to edit my entry & while I expressed my sorrow, I didn't relate a story.  There are so, so many wonderful memories.  One which does stand out is how Mom, ever so loving And practical, too! got each of us aprons (all with different prints) to wear over our dress clothes on Christmas Eve!!  That was Mom...always thinking of others & taking care of us!  Miss you so....Love, Karen  And, let us never forget Dad's "5-iiive Gold-en Riiings!" to leave you with a smile, not tears. Hard to believe that Aunt Susie is no longer with us but I will always remember my aunt and godmother as a kind, gentle and loving person.  I raised my children and lived on the same street with my own grandparents, my Aunt Susie and Uncle Phil. I am so glad that my children, Chris and Jimmy,  got to experience having been brought up in an Italian family and that they had cousins, aunts and great grandparents living on the same street. Chris and Jimmy, would line up under Aunt Susie's window along with their cousins, Christine and Marissa, and know they would be showered with candy. What a treat for them and Aunt Susie got such a kick watching them scramble for goodies! Just one of many wonderful memories. Rest in peace my dear aunt.

Miss you every day Gram.  Gemma and Luca would have loved to know their Nonna, but I have a feeling they already met you.  I will keep your memory alive by living my life as you did yours- with grace and dignity, always putting family first, giving love and support, and keeping traditions.  Gemma and Luca will know what a wonderful person you were because I will tell them stories of you and all you did.

A beautiful woman and a lovely neighbor.  She was always so young at heart.
