Gail was born, raised and lived her whole life in Brooklyn New York. She grew up with few luxuries, and this would shape her life and career as she never forgot what it was like to struggle to find that extra dollar. She attended Bishop McDonnell High School and then married at the age of 19. In her thirties, she started college, completing it and, subsequently, two Masters degrees, all while raising her children. She was passionate about helping those who could not advocate for themselves, so she began her teaching career working with special needs students, where she became a true advocate for them. She then took on the role of job developer at her school, where she helped students to to finish their high school education and find jobs. Later, as Assistant Principal, she oversaw a successful school that served hundreds of students with special needs. She was a dedicated and determined educator, who did not allow bureaucracy to get in the way of what was best for her students.
Family was central in her life, and she was always there with honest advice for her children, grandchildren, nieces and nephews. If anyone had a problem, she tried to find a way to help. She loved her family enough to tell them the truth even when it would have been easier to just let it go. This desire to help people did not stop with family. She was a support to countless people in many different ways.
She loved to cook for people, and her happiest times were sitting around with family and friends, talking and eating together.
She is survived by her children, Deirdre and husband Gil , Colin and fiancée Jen, Dave and wife Helene, daughter Jenny, her grandchildren, Liam, Caitlin, Adam, Kieran, Declan, Maya, Shannon and Summer, her friend and sister Grace, and her beloved nieces and nephews.
