Peter David Lifton died unexpectedly on Thursday, January 11. A devoted father and husband, he believed in his commitments to his family, his work, and to friends. He was guided by a strong moral compass that impacted how he interacted with the world.
Peter was born in New York—proud of his Bronx roots. He met his wife, Ellen when they were graduate students at the University of California, Berkeley. After Berkeley, they moved to the Washington DC area where he worked for the government for 14 years and where their son, Joshua was born. The family later moved to the Boston area where, for the past 15 years, Peter taught at Northeastern University in their College of Professional Studies. But the job Peter was most passionate about was being a father.
Peter leaves behind his wife Ellen, son Joshua, daughter in law Leanna, sister Jane, brother in law and sister in law and 2 nephews and grand niece: Larry, Meryl, Andrew, Matt, and Madeleine (MJ), beloved cousins Leslie and Tom, and grandpups Sampson and Ryleigh.
Services will be at Levine Chapel in Brookline on Thursday, January 18.
In lieu of flowers please send donations to MSPCA Angell Animal Medical Center, Boston.
