Linda Gail Kaplan, 75, daughter of Frank and Lillian (Ellis) Kaplan, passed away peacefully surrounded by family, on April 3, 2021, from pancreatic cancer. Born in Chicago, IL, and raised in Evanston, IL, a proud Midwesterner, Linda moved to the east coast in 1981, first residing in Concord, NH, and then in Arlington, MA since 1985. After attending Evanston Township High School (ETHS), she earned her BA at the University of Illinois, Chicago, and her MA at Northwestern University. She was a talented linguist who taught French at ETHS and spoke multiple languages. Linda was an ardent Zionist and an influential leader in the pro-Israel Greater Boston community, involved with multiple Jewish organizations. Linda loved the beach and enjoyed the family’s oceanfront home in Saco, ME. She loved to travel and cherished her family dogs. She was a loyal and caring friend known for her warmth, compassion, wisdom, wit, and sense of humor. As a beloved mother and devoted wife, Linda always put her immediate and extended family first.
She is survived by her husband, Jeffrey Kraines, son, Kirkland Kraines, daughter, Morganne Kostas-Kraines, daughter-in-law, Kelly Helvenston Kraines, son-in-law, James Kostas-Kraines, sister, Roslyn Pollack, and brother, Alan Kaplan.
