Copman, Helen Lillian (Daniels), proud and happy resident of Newton for 60+ years, formerly of Dorchester, entered into eternal rest on October 2, 2016 at age 92 after a short but fierce battle with lung cancer. She was the greatly adored and devoted daughter of Isadore and Ann (Cohen) Daniels, originally from Poland. Our beautiful and elegant mother, a woman of grace, style, and class with a lovely sense of humor, leaves us, her loving and heartbroken daughters, Donna Lee and Sandra Copman, both of North Grafton.
No one could have asked or wished for a more loving and lovable, strong and willful, optimistic and precious mother, with a radiant smile and sparkling aquamarine eyes that captivated everyone fortunate enough to meet her. We grew up accepting that we would have to share her with many friends as their surrogate mom!
Helen was widowed ten years ago, losing the love of her life, Louis Copman with whom she was the proud co-owner of a commercial engraving business, working shoulder to shoulder for over 50 years while raising her family and joining multiple civic activities like Hadassah and B'nai Brith. Helen and Lou enjoyed a romantic and respectful marriage of 56 years that set the foundation for strong family values.
Helen also leaves her devoted niece Susan; loving and dedicated niece Amy and spouse Tony; nephew Kenneth and spouse Eileen; grandnieces Jaclyn, Tammy and Pamela and their spouses; grandnephews Martin and Peter; and several great-grand nephews and nieces. They all loved and respected their delightful Aunt Helen.
In addition, she leaves countless friends and loving cousins who will miss her deeply and will never forget her. Now reunited with her darling parents, sweet brother, many other relatives and dear friends, and especially our dad, her best friend and soul mate, she can rest in peace.
Services will be held on Friday, October 7, 2016 at Stanetsky Memorial Chapel, 475 Washington Street, Canton, MA at 12:00 Noon. Interment at Sharon Memorial Park, 40 Dedham Street, Sharon. Following services, there will be a Celebration of the Life of Helen Daniels Copman from 3 to 7 PM with details to be announced at services and on Sunday, October 9th, at the late residence of Helen Copman from 4 to 8 PM and continuing on Thursday, October 13th, at the home of Donna Lee and Sandra Copman from 6 to 9 PM.
In lieu of flowers, please consider contributing to your favorite charity, a lung cancer organization, or Urban College of Boston, 178 Tremont Street, Boston MA 02111.
