Gerald Rose, of Brookline, MA, passed away November 2, 2014, at the age of 82. Beloved husband of Diane Marks Rose for 53 years. Dear son of the late Theodore Rosen and his wife Gertrude (Siegel) Rosen. Devoted father of James A. Rose and his wife Kara of Charlotte, North Carolina; Eve Rose Evans and her husband Todd of Pearl River, New York. Proud grandfather of David Jordan Rose, and Isabelle Rose Evans.
Gerry graduated from Boston University College of Business Administration, with a Bachelor's of Science degree, Beta Gamma Sigma, in June of 1954. Gerry was the executive vice president and co-founder of J. Homestock in Dedham, MA.
Gerry was diagnosed with Parkinson's disease and at the end of his life was legally blind. He maintained a smile on his face and made everyone around him feel comfortable with his charming persona. While his health was constantly failing, he exhibited a joie de vivre, and a playful nature.
Gerry's family would like to express sincere gratitude to all of his loving and caring friends during his illness, with particular thanks to Cantor Roy Einhorn, and the clergy of Temple Israel of Boston, as well as the Coolidge House Nursing Home, Compassionate Care Hospice, and Hebrew Senior Life.
Services were held at the Stanetsky Memorial Chapel, 475 Washington St., Canton, MA 02021, on Friday November 7, 2014, interment followed at Sharon Memorial Park, 40 Dedham St, Sharon, MA 02067. Memorial observance will be held at the residence of Diane Rose following interment. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to, The Parkinson's Foundation, 200 SE 1st St., Suite 800, Miami, FL, 33131, or Boston Foundation for Sight, 464 Hillside Ave., Suite 205, Needham, MA 02494.
Gerry will be greatly missed for his warmth, compassion, kindness, sense of humor and wealth of knowledge, as well as being a super story teller.
