Judge Eliot K. Cohen, age 93, of Newton and Naples, FL, on Sunday, November 13, 2022. For 65 years, beloved husband of Elaine (Ginsberg) Cohen. Loving father of Jim Cohen, and Sandra Cohen & her husband Michael Walker. Cherished grandfather to Jim’s daughters, Kayla, Samantha and Lindsey Cohen. Dear brother of the late Barbara Solin and her surviving family. The family would like to give special thanks to Maria for her loving care and devotion.
Judge Cohen had a life full of accomplishments, including serving our country in the Air Force and OSI, serving the Newton Community as President of the Board of Alderman. Judge Cohen began a private law practice in Newton and in 1981, was appointed by Governor Edward King as the First Justice of the Nantucket County Probate and Family Court.
Eliot dedicated his life to public service, the law, and taking care of his family.
Services will be at Temple Beth Shalom, 670 Highland Avenue, Needham, on Thursday, November 17 at 10:00am. Burial at Beth El Cemetery, West Roxbury.
Immediately following the burial, memorial observance will be at his late residence until 4:00pm and on Friday, from 1-4:00pm. In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to Rabbi Perlman’s Discretionary Fund, c/o Temple Beth Shalom, www.tbsneedham.org, or to a charity of your choice.
