Funeral services will be held at noon Tuesday, May 31, 2022, at Sharon Memorial Chapel, 120 Canton Street, Sharon, MA 02067. Burial to follow. The family requests that all attending the memorial service be vaccinated and masked. The service will be live-streamed.
He is a graduate of Ithaca College class of 1980 where he studied music and liberal arts. David taught himself Portuguese and overcame a fear of flying, not only to immerse himself in the music of Brazil, but to have a deeper understanding of the culture in which it was rooted.
For decades David performed jazz and a variety of Brazilian music styles in the Boston area and beyond. His instrument choices and expertise in each spanned a wide variety, from piano to cavaquinho; from vocals to percussion.
David had a significant impact on many people as a mentor, a producer, band mate, and as a teacher. In his own gentle way he both gave of himself, and brought out the best in others.
His devotion to the essentials: music, family, friends, learning, and maybe a good IPA or a scoop of ice cream was steadfast. Each of these and more provided constant enjoyment, especially when shared with those he knew and loved.
He is sorely missed.
