Cynthia passed away peacefully, after a short illness, on December 5, 2024 at the age of 91, surrounded by her two children.
Cynthia R. (Roller) Duncan was the daughter of the late Allen B. “Ben” and Goldie (Glimcher) Roller.
Cynthia leaves behind her loving twins: David Duncan (Cheryl Alkon) and Ruth Weiner (Brian), and four beloved grandchildren: Andrew and Joshua Weiner, Ethan and Hannah Duncan.
She is also survived by her two sisters: Barbara Rubin and Sandra Fleisig, as well as niece and nephews: Marla Rubin, Nathan, Jeffrey and Brian Fleisig and their families. She was predeceased by her brother, Samuel Roller.
Cynthia grew up and was educated in Chelsea, where she was a top graduate of the business track of the Chelsea High School. She was a proud life-time member of Hadassah Women’s Organization.
Following her upbringing in Chelsea, Cynthia moved with her parents to Brookline. She then moved to Newtonville, where she raised her children and lived for more than 40 years. Later in life, she moved to Westboro and then to Framingham.
Cynthia was a skilled bookkeeper, working as an independent contractor for many clients, while also raising her children. The highlight of her career was becoming bookkeeper for her younger sister Sandra’s medical records business.
Cynthia loved playing mahjong and bingo, and she loved hearing about the lives and school accomplishments of Andrew, Joshua, Ethan and Hannah. She was very proud of all four grandchildren and was thrilled to have them living close by to be able to see them regularly. Cynthia was very happy she lived to see all grandchildren’s Bar/Bat Mitzvahs and Andrew’s high school graduation/start of college at UMass Honor’s Program. She had been looking forward to celebrating both Joshua and Ethan’s high school graduation this upcoming May and their start of college next year.
Cynthia was equally proud of her “totally opposite” twins, and she made sure that they were both treated equally. There was nothing she would not do to for Ruth and David. She was very loved and will be truly missed.
Funeral services will be held on Sunday, December 8, 2024 at 1:30pm at Temple Israel of Natick, 145 Hartford St., Natick, MA. Interment will follow at the Framingham Natick Jewish Cemetery, 40 Fairview Avenue, Natick, MA.
